Head Gear Animation produces a wide array of 2D animation. From hand drawn, traditional cel animation to slick, graphic, digital animation and everything in between. Sometimes black and white line animation is an elegant option other times, a full colour, shaded approach is the right solution. Whatever it takes to tell the story and look pretty sweet!

Approach to creative concept development and animation
We feel a “hand-made” visual style is the best approach for this project. Given that it is primarily intended for youth, a style that feels approachable, warm and a little playful feels appropriate. Using hand-drawn line, texture, organic shapes combined with the rhythm and quirks of animation we would build an engaging and fluid piece punctuated by interesting transitions that supports the information being conveyed coherently without being too didactic. This will also be an effective approach given that some information might be of an sensitive or awkward nature. We can convey some of this by leaning into more abstract and symbolic shapes and creative animation without necessarily getting too graphic. This will also be an effective approach to integrating the diverse nature of those experiencing this condition without having to be super specific to ethnicity or body type. Sound effects could also play a big part in drawing the viewer in and highlighting key points. We also imagine a liberal use of animated text as another method of highlighting these key points. The Endometriosis Network Canada's existing colors and branding will also anchor the palette and organic feel of the visual style. The elements of the curvy/wavy logo itself lends itself well to shapes, objects and backgrounds that might populate the visual space.
Approach to English and French voice-over production
Unless a client provides a VO, we usually record a scratch track ourselves for timing purposes until a final VO can be recorded. We would use this scratch track for the timing of the Animatic. The Final English VO record is read to match this timing. After approval of the final English version of the spot, the VO talent would match the pace and speed of the English record for the French version. In some cases VO is done in-house at the client end if an appropriate (and bilingual) reader is willing and available. This can also be an effective cost-cutting measure. If this is not an option we will arrange for VO casting using preferably bilingual talent, and the client can make their preferred choice. Creatively, the direction for talent should be female, youth-forward with candor yet levity to their delivery.
